Innovation Guelph Receives $225,000 Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant

MPP Liz Sandals is pleased to announce that Innovation Guelph will receive an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant of $225,000 over 36 months to design and deliver a women’s entrepreneurship and business-leadership program in Guelph and Wellington County.  This program will support women entrepreneurs in the region, including women living in rural communities, women in career or life transition, new Canadians and women focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Over the three years, Innovation Guelph will:

  • increase access and engagement among diverse women seeking to launch new or grow existing businesses;
  •  grow women-led enterprise and alignment of these businesses with shared value and community benefit and
  • increase partnerships and collaboration among private/corporate, non-profit and public sector partners to build an effective system of support and services for women entrepreneurs and business-owners.

Ultimately, Innovation Guelph, by developing pilot projects, will see greater civic engagement (and economic participation) in community life, particularly for those who would not otherwise have access.

“Innovation Guelph is reaching out to and supporting women to be contributing members of our community.  I am pleased that the Ontario Trillium Foundation will be helping to support this endeavour to further the business success and civic involvement of women in Guelph.”

-- Liz Sandals, MPP for Guelph

“Innovation Guelph is grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support of our goal of growing women-owned businesses in Guelph and Wellington County to 30% by 2020. This funding is critical to develop the pilot programs that will be the backbone of women’s economic advancement in the region.”

-- Kristel Manes, Director, Innovation Guelph and Women’s Economic Advancement Project
